REVIEWS

A wonderful exploration of Love Poetry

HOW LOVE POEMS WORK: FROM WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE TO BOB DYLAN

In this book, Sandra Roe examines love poetry. She does so in an eloquent way, providing the history of each poet she explores. This books reminds us why we often seek love poems, what they do for us and why. I liked learning more about the history of each poet and learning the "how and why" of each of their poems. The author provides important context for each work examined in the book. It is also an easy read and one can pick up any chapter they are interested in at any time. I enjoyed her final section of Bob Dylan, reminding us that love poems come in many shapes and sizes. This book pleasantly reminds us why we fall in love with love poetry, after all.
